Senior PastorI grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and later attended Georgia Tech and I still cheer for the Yellow Jackets! One might mistake me for an engineer, but I was one of the few that escaped with a liberal arts degree (International Affairs). After college, I spent three wonderful years in Washington, DC working for a U.S. Congressman. There, I met my wife Paisley at a coffee shop in the shadow of the Capitol dome. My aunt and her mom were friends and conspired to get us together... it worked! We soon married and were ready for a new adventure. I had tasted politics and felt it was time to move on to my favorite subject – theology. We moved to Vancouver, BC where I studied at Regent College for a Masters of Divinity.
I met Jesus (or he met me) at a very young age. I can’t remember a time not relating to him. But, along the way, Jesus has led me through several “conversion-like” experiences, showing me more about himself, and what following him looks like. Most of my life I have felt called to spend my time and energy serving Jesus in his Church. I used to daydream about preaching sermons to an imaginary congregation. I deeply enjoy learning about God through the scriptures and reading theology. But nothing compares to the joy of having some of that head-knowledge penetrate your heart and transform your life. Paisley and I have a daughter, Azure, and a son, Julian. They bring us many smiles and hours of free entertainment!
I have a soft spot in my heart (or stomach) for cheeses of all kinds, wine, Belgium beers, and chewy oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. My ears are most happy when they hear choral music, jazz, or acoustic folk.

Director of Children's MinistryI have loved babies and children as far back as I can remember. I grew up as an only child in Greenville, South Carolina. A big family was always a dream of mine. My husband and I have three adult children and nine grandchildren. Including my Mom, we have eighteen of us on a family vacation. That is definitely a picture of God’s grace to a lonely, only child.
As a child I went to Church every Sunday so I knew the Bible stories and I knew about Jesus, but I never let Him get past my head. In the early years of our marriage I decided that Jesus lived at Pawleys Island, South Carolina, (where my in-laws went to church). That way we could visit Him on special occasions like Christmas and Easter. I gave him no part of my everyday life. I was thirty-six when Jesus came after my heart. He came in such a powerful way that I knew I never again wanted to try to live my life without Him in it. Looking back at my life before and after Jesus, I would describe it as if I had been walking down a long dark road feeling alone and lost and then having someone take my hand and lead me into the most beautiful daylight, looking up and seeing Jesus beside me and knowing I was at home at last.
That is the message I want our children and babies to hear. Jesus loves them and so do we. If I can be a part of their understanding what a relationship with Jesus looks, feels and tastes like (we do love snacks) my prayers for them will be answered.
The children that come into my life at King of Kings have a unique way of showing me The Kingdom of Heaven and I thank God for that privilege each week.

Community CoordinatorGrowing up in Salinas, CA (birthplace of John Steinbeck and lettuce capitol of the world!), I was fortunate to be raised in a Christian home where I came to know Christ at an early age. My college years were spent in Southern California where I attended Biola University and majored in Sociology. Biola’s commitment to have students actively involved with community service efforts opened numerous opportunities. From working with inner city children one summer in Philadelphia, PA to counseling at a group home for troubled teen girls the following summer in San Jose, CA, I experienced life and community in a variety of settings. I also had the opportunity to lead a community Bible club for children in the inner city of Watts, CA and establish relationships with women at a homeless shelter program run by the Los Angeles Mission.
After college, I relocated to London, England where I worked at Harrods for a year and then back packed through Europe for three months visiting eight countries. It was during these travels that God began calling me into ministry giving me a heart for the Europeans. In 1997, I moved to Brussels, Belgium serving as a missionary with Greater Europe Mission (GEM) for five years where I helped plant an international English-speaking church. It was during my time in Brussels that I met my husband Jeff who often visited from the States with short-term mission’s teams. We were engaged in Paris, France, married in Monterey, CA and then moved to Charlotte, NC where Jeff was working. We have a fun-loving son Nathan who is truly a blessing and gift to us.
Traveling in Europe, spending quality time with my husband and son, visiting my family in California, having afternoon tea at a fancy hotel, enjoying a good meal with family and friends and eating Belgium chocolates...these are a few of my favorite things.

Worship LeaderI was in my early twenties and fresh out of college when I experienced an amazing conversion resulting in a new faith walk with my Lord Jesus Christ. This encounter with the living God led me to offering my musical gifts to the church. I was fortunate enough in those early years to work with some amazingly talented and classically trained music ministers who were open to my songwriting and contemporary style. They patiently mentored me in my rough hewn state for several years. Now, after years of songwriting and leading worship, I feel more enthusiastic about my calling and our weekly corporate worship experience (which involves both ancient and modern forms) than I ever have.
The adults, young people, and children I get to work with on a weekly basis are a constant source of joy and wonder to me as I see each one growing in their music and ministry skills.
Given my early experience with my mentors, I try to involve all who wish to share their musical gifts, regardless of age or experience. I truly believe God is pleased when he sees and hears this inter-generational worship expression. A calling to lead worship is a privilege and honor for which I am truly thankful to God. Come join us if you are hungry to express worship “in spirit and truth”.

Director of Youth MinistriesI was born and raised in Southern Maryland, picking blue crabs, and frequenting trips into Washington D.C. I viewed my life as ordinary until I was 14, as a freshman in high school, when I was invited to Young Life. I quickly became a regular and could not get enough of the fun skits, games, and growing in knowledge and love for Jesus. I looked up to and admired my Young Life leaders, turning to them often for wisdom on how to live life. It is an understatement to say an impact was made.
I came down to Charlotte to attend Queens University of Charlotte, where I studied Psychology, and had the privilege to study in Europe and spend a summer doing ministry in East Asia. Senior year of college I interned as a youth leader here at King of Kings under my former Young Life Area Director. I realize now my youth ministry training did not begin during my internship, but it started as a freshman in high school when I was warmly welcomed into relationships with believers, and most importantly, welcomed into a relationship with Christ. I take seriously the motto “it is a sin to bore a kid with the Gospel”, and desire to care for students just as I was reached out to and cared for.
I easily get excited about life. I love exploring, whether it is around the world or right here in Charlotte. I enjoy trips to the farmers market for fresh produce and flowers, convertible rides which engage the senses, and bringing life to those around me. Also, I LOVE dark chocolate…and sappy chick flicks. I laugh a lot, and most of the time at myself! Sometimes I can be pretty loud and enthusiastic…a lot more than I intend to be, but it’s usually for a worthy cause.
I love LOVE.
